Dragonfly Cafe+Deli includes an area designed for younger members of our community. A fish tank will entice the little ones leaving them safe and entertained, while opening up other areas of the cafe for welcomed and sometimes much needed quiet contemplation. Children will be able to play at Dragonfly and have an opportunity to discover and taste foods they may have pushed aside in the past – free from preservatives and excess sugar.
Our food is locally sourced – as often as possible – from producers using a predominantly permacultural method. Ready-made products are sourced from likeminded others with a passion for fresh taste! Our food is seasonal and always prepared with love and care, with a focus on nutritional density in line with contemporary nutrition knowledge. Therefore it not only tastes good, but it is good for you.
Traceability can be difficult in today’s world, but contributes so much to sustainability and health. Our produce is sourced from a variety of suppliers including CERES Environment Park’s Fairfood, with a selection of fruit from established fruit trees at our property in Castlemaine. Our deli products will change with the seasons, and are provided by wonderful local artisan producers.
Our coffee is from the beautiful Byron Bay area, Eureka Coffee & Growers Espresso offers a delicious Australian-grown coffee variety. Mork Chocolate will be served for toasty warm hot chocolates, while Southern Light Herbs will supply our tea options. We will of course be stocking amazing fermented drinks from The Fermentary too.
Our pork is from Amber Creek Farm, with Angus beef from Annie’s Angus. Cheeses from brands like Holy Goat, Milawa, Apostle Whey, Locheilan and many more Victorian cheese specialists will fill our deli, appearing on incredible platters in the cafe. Dench Bakers will be our main supplier of bread but other brands like Flinders Sourdough, Irrewarra Sourdough, and others can be requested by customers for us to stock.
